Welcome to Guide to Guitarbuilding
On this page you will find a complete guide to building a electric guitar or bass, and some instructions about repair and setup. You will also find complete CAD files (DXF and DWG format) of electric guitars and basses.

This site has been up since 1999, and moved to this server and domain in 2002, and is still visited daily by a lot of users.

I got a lot of support from the visitors of this site, and hope I get as much support this year as I got last year.

I started this page, because when I first got interested in guitarbuilding, information about it was hard to find on the internet. There was little information, and even fewer pictures with it. The resources and suppliers I used then, and still use, are now in the links section. You will also find downloads for CAD file viewers, and calculation sheets/progs there.

In the Basic Guitar parts section you can find the names for most guitar parts.

The Construction section and the Dimensions section Explain about different types neck and hardware constructions and dimensions.

In the Downloads section you can download CAD and DXF drawings of my guitar projects, visitor submitted drawings, routing templates, calculation sheets, CAD-software, and much more.

In the Photo album you will find photo's of my projects, and there's also room for you to show off your own guitarbuilding project.

The very extensive Materials section and the Hardware section helps you choose wood types, and hardware types (e.g.. bridge, pickups, etc.).

The Tools section explains about most luthier tools and how to use them, as well as power tools "required" for guitarbuilding.

In the Tutorials section you can read and submit helpfull tips and tricks.

Then there is the weblinks sections. Here you will find guitarpart suppliers, links to other builders and interesting sites.

Then there's also our very active forum for those with interests in group discussions about guitarbuilding and setup, keep it interesting and open to others : post guitarbuilding related questions only on the forum.

Some section require registration and login before you can access them. Registration is free, and only takes a few minutes.
